Parents' Notes on Discipline, Health and Safety
Parent #1
1.You have to cross the playground to access the building for the sign in/out sheet (which is not monitored). However, the teachers are excellent at recognizing parents and would know visitors from parents.
2.At one point a child was able to leave the gated playground (a parent had left the gate open). Since then, the school has added an additional gate for safety.
3.During summer months, sometimes the air conditioning is not on. They recently added tenting to the outside playground for shade.
4.The outside playground is almost all dirt and it isn't raked at anytime (that I can see). The play structures don't seem to be hosed down or cleaned, either.
Parent #2
The play area outside consists of mainly one large blacktop. There are no swings or larger grassy play areas.
Parent #3
At first I loved the big yard but then I found that it was actually not so good because the teachers cannot oversee all the kids in such a large space.

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
